How Was Life In The Cities?
Evacuation:
In World War II, children would have to evacuate from their home. They were in danger from air raids. So they would evacuees. A evacuees is when they moved form danger area to safe place . They would move in with a new family and would have to stay there for months. If they didn't evacuate they would stay with their families. Some families would have safe house which most safe house were underground. It was very small down there. Some families would have to spend their holiday down there.
RATIONING
Food rationing began in 1940. This meant each person could buy only a fixed amount of certain foods each week. In World War II, they had to ration food, clothing, and ect. But during that time, it was hard to ration food bea use everybody that was in the cities had to double the work so they would want more food. Enemy submarines sank so many ships that there was a shortage of some foods. Rationing made sure everyone got a fair share. In one the website I saw it had chart of what people were allowed to get a week they got small portions of food like they could only 2 eggs a week. And every man , woman, and child were given a ration book.
